Standard Format Basic Rules
Decks are built before the event; you bring your own 60-card main deck.
You may have up to 15 cards in a sideboard.
No more than 4 copies of any non-basic land card in your combined main + sideboard deck.
Only cards from legal sets are allowed; sets “rotate out” annually so older sets become illegal in Standard.

Commander Format Basic Rules
Deck size is 100 cards including your Commander. Each card in the deck (other than basic lands) must match your Commander’s color identity.
The deck must be singleton: only one copy of any non-basic land card.
Commander starts in the “command zone” and can be cast from there; casting it again from the command zone costs extra every time it returns there.
Commander damage can kill you if one opponent’s Commander deals you 21+ damage over the course of the game.

Limited Formats
Booster Draft Format Basic Rules
Players open booster packs, pick cards one at a time, passing packs around; build deck from cards drafted.
Minimum deck size is 40 cards, includes drafted cards + any number of basic lands you need.
No sideboard beyond what you drafted; deck comes from what you selected during drafting.

Sealed Deck Format Basic Rules
Players build a deck using cards they opened from 6 provided booster packs.
Minimum deck size is 40 cards. You may include any number of basic lands beyond that; duplicate cards are okay if you got them from the packs.
Sideboard is comprised of unused cards from your sealed pool. You can swap between games using cards from that pool.
